"We created our estate in 2002 after being charmed by a mosaic of terroirs: clay and limestone, red sandstone, flint, pebbles and roulettes. All the traditional varieties of Languedoc are represented, the oldest vine being a Carignan planted in 1902. The vineyard of a current surface of 14 hectares is naturally harvested by hand. " Patricia and Luc Bettoni, winemakers of Domaine Les Eminades
Located in Cébazan, one of the twenty communes of the wine-growing area of the Saint-Chinian Controlled Appellation of Origin in Languedoc, Domaine Les Eminades begins its 2002 wine-making history. The name Les Eminades comes from a tènement, a plot, on the domain. It is after some research on the names of these tenements and thanks to a text of the writer and lexicographer Frédéric Mistral that, Eminada, of Occitan origin, gives meaning to this name. It is actually a land area that the Languedocian peasants were sowing thanks to a measure that comes from Italy, the Emina. With the development of viticulture in the Languedoc and the Saint-Chinian vineyards, these small areas of land have become small enclosed half-slope, facing south.
The characteristic of the Domaine Les Eminades: very old plans of Carignan, planted in 1902. The vineyard is also composed of vines of Grenache Noir who are between 30 and 60 years, as the Syrah and Cinsault. The white grapes of the Saint-Chinian White AOC are represented by Grenache Blanc and Marsanne. The cultivation of the vines in Patricia and Luc Bettoni takes place with the utmost respect for the environment. The soils also receive special attention as guarantors of the natural development of vineyards. No herbicides and pesticides intervene in the work of the plots for a production of organic wines and especially of wines of pleasure.
