"In the vineyards as in the cellar, the key words remain nature and simplicity." Véronique Etienne, winemaker Château La Dournie

The Étienne cuvée from Château La Dournie is a tribute, an attention given to all the women of the Étienne family who succeed one another at the head of this Saint-Chinian wine estate.
The wine is captivating with complexity and refinement, which has enabled it, vintage after vintage, to rise to the Top 10 Virtuoso Wines of Saint-Chinian.

Étienne is adorned with an intense and deep red robe whose violet reflections bring sparkle to the wine. The nose stirs the senses with aromas of ripe fruit, smoky notes. On the palate, notes of toasted almonds and hazelnuts round off the flavors of ripe morello cherries and a peppery touch on the finish. The wine is round and offers a nice aromatic persistence after tasting.

Particular attention is already given to the vine for the selection of the bunches necessary for the development of the Etienne cuvée. The harvest takes place conventionally in the vineyard of the domain between September 5 and October 6.
The traditional vinification of the juices is placed under temperature control, in order to preserve a maximum of freshness, finesse and elegance. Part of the cuvée is aged in 400L barrels, in order to add complexity and roundness to the wine.
Then, the final assembly of the majority Syrah, Grenache Noir and Carignan Noir is carried out following a partial aging: 12 months in oak barrels and 12 months in tanks.

The surrounding nature and the diversity of the soils give the terroir of Château La Dournie a special and assertive character. The acid-prone schist soils intermingle with the sandy-silty soils on the surface and which border the Vernazobre, supported by a deep clay gradient. The influence of this diversity in the soil is found in the wines of Château La Dournie. The vines from which the grapes necessary for the creation of the Etienne cuvée come are, on average 35 years old at present, and are led for the third year in conversion to organic farming.

Étienne is a red wine from Saint-Chinian typed Languedoc, full-bodied and generous, with rounded and silky tannins, with character affirmed by its terroir, all on a fresh and elegant finish. The hand of the winemaker, Véronique Étienne, harmoniously conducts this vintage tribute to the Étienne family for your enjoyment.
A wine to serve for itself from the aperitif around 16 to 18 ° C. During a meal, Étienne du Château La Dournie will go wonderfully with a roast rabbit with garrigue herbs, small game or noble pieces of beef simply grilled.
